Citizen Of The Season
Fall 2007
Last year when we were in the planning process for our new Community Center, Barbara Farnsworth brought to our attention that many of the plants our landscape architect had chosen were not native to our area. Barbara also asked if we might be open to changing those plants to natives because they will thrive here and use less water. Thanks to Barbara for starting the ball rolling!
Barbara belongs to a group of volunteers serving Zion National Park, fondly called the VIPERS. They meet once a week - rain or shine. They collect seeds of native plants, germinate them and plant established plants in the park. We were lucky to have their help. They not only grew our plants but planted them and have continued to weed them!
