Citizen Of The Season
Spring 2011
This season, Springdale Town Council recognized a group of individuals instead of a single person as Springdale’s “Citizens of the Season.” The men and women of the Rockville-Springdale Fire Protection District who serve as firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics won the honor.
While these stalwart individuals stand ready to serve year-around and 24/7, their efforts in protecting life and property in Springdale and Rockville during the December 2010 floods triggered attention for the award. District personnel (along with town staff and the police department) spent several near-sleepless nights as they monitored rising waters, assisted local residents where flooding occurred, and stood by to roll emergency and fire equipment if needed.
In presenting the award to District Chairman, Bob Orton, at the April town council meeting, Mayor Cluff noted the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by the recipients.
Along with a plaque to honor the group, each of the following received a Certificate of Award: Maggie Averett, Britt Ballard, Chief Ryan Ballard, Alexander Barajas, Jared Barker, Jeff Barker, Fire Marshal Joe Barker, Michael Clark, Russell Farnsworth, EMS Captain Dave Hans, Zac Hansen, Elaine Harris, Rebecca McKown, Matthew Nelson, John Parken, Tom Putnam, Kevin Riehle, Annie Sharp, Kyle Smith, Dale Watts and Vince Wood.
We thank all these wonderful people for their caring and commitment to serving the community. Zion Canyon is fortunate to have dedicated and trained Emergency Service personnel like these. Don’t hesitate to thank them personally next chance you get.
