OPT-OUT OPTION IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Opt-Out Between September 1, 2020 and November 30, 2020

Under the new contract:

The new Washington County Solid Waste District contract with Republic Service will begin Feb. 1, 2021. The recycling program rates will be based upon the number of participants in the recycling program. If the District retains more than 51% of the residents in the recycling program, the price will be based on Tier 1 levels. The new recycling program costs are based upon participation and are divided into three tiers. The current monthly rate for recycling is $3.37. It will increase to at least $5.66 effective February 1, 2021, and could go as high as $6.66 based upon participation.

• Tier 1, over 51% enrollment - starts at $5.66 per month and increases to $6.88 by Jan. 2030.

• Tier 2, 41%-50% enrollment - starts at $6.10 per month and increases to $7.43 by Jan. 2030.

• Tier 3, 34%-41% enrollment – starts at $6.66 per month and increases to $8.13 by Jan. 2030.

The recycled materials remain the same: paper, cardboard, plastics, and metals. They will be processed locally and then sent to Republic Service’s recycling facility near Las Vegas. It is anticipated that “no recyclable materials shall be disposed of at the Washington County Landfill” with this new contract.
